Russian Railways could launch a fully autonomous passenger train in 2026. And next summer, the company will launch a train with unmanned driving on level 3A of the Moscow Central Circle line. This was announced by the director of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov.
According to him, trains will be launched in the capital with a person in the cabin controlling the controls. The next stage is a fully autonomous train.
Such transport will be created on the basis of an analogue of the Lastochka with import substitution. This is the ES104 “Finist” domestic electric train. Their movement was launched at the end of last year in the Urals.
“Now we are adding additional equipment that we have already developed,” Belozerov said at the Russia forum, quoted by Interfax.
The head of Russian Railways also shared the prospects for the realization of the high-speed rail transport project. The first stage is scheduled to be completed in 2030. The company is currently developing a high-speed train.
As Belozerov points out, the new train will be “a level higher than the existing ones.” The train will consist of eight cars and the speed of this transport will almost double the speed of the Sansan and will be km/h.
The Russian-made high-speed train will offer four classes of service: first, business, comfort and basic.
