The new feature allows users to highlight information on the device screen by drawing a circle around the screen and then searching for the highlighted item.
While the feature’s official name is “Circle to Search,” users can highlight text and draw on elements, not just oval shapes, to activate the new search option.
The innovation works anywhere on the device, but for those who use gestures to activate it, you need to press and hold the Home button or the Navigation Bar.
Google touts this feature as a more convenient alternative to switching between different apps, such as taking screenshots of items and then using Google Lens.
“Circle to Search” will be available worldwide on January 31st and will initially be available only on the Pixel 8 series and Samsung Galaxy S24.
