Galaxy S24’s One UI 6.1 lost the ability to hide the gesture bar at the bottom of the screen. The absence of the source was detected in the mobile phones sent for evaluation after the premiere on Wednesday (17).

Analysts found the change in the “Navigation bar” section of the mobile phone’s settings menu. The “Gesture Tips” option that prevents users from hiding gesture icons from the screen is no longer available.

In addition to this change, One UI 6.1 also Lost Samsung’s signature moves. This option allowed traditional shortcuts to be replaced with gestures from the center and corners of the screen.

First, The purpose of the change is to enable the use of Google’s “Search Circular”, one of the main new features of the update.

Unfortunately, the option to hide the gesture bar doesn’t return in the settings menu, even if “Search Circle” is turned off. Therefore, users lose one more customization option.

Gesture navigation remains available

It’s worth noting that gesture navigation continues to be available in One UI 6.1, only Samsung’s approach has been removed. This way, users can still access Android 14’s native motion model.

Now, It is not possible to know if the change is permanent. The change may just be an experiment by Samsung, or it may be exclusive to Galaxy S24 phones.
