Viking responded to more than 34,000 requests for assistance in the first nine days of 2024, when the country was struggling with extreme cold. Only 13% of these queries were about electric vehicles, while the remaining 87% were about conventionally fueled vehicles.

The study’s findings are consistent with other studies that show electric vehicles are generally more efficient and durable than fossil fuel vehicles. Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts and are less susceptible to wear and tear due to extreme weather conditions.

The study’s findings also have implications for broader electric vehicle adoption. As more consumers learn about the reliability of electric vehicles in cold weather, they will be more willing to switch from conventionally fueled vehicles.
