The investigator demanded that the blogger Blinovskaya be imprisoned in a pre-trial detention center

Blinovskaya was detained in April 2023 while trying to leave the country. The investigation believes that she did not pay taxes worth more than 918 million rubles between 2019 and 2021. According to law enforcement officials, the blogger resorted to a “business fragmentation” plan. A preventive measure in the form of house arrest was imposed on Blinovskaya. Her husband Alexey was also charged with complicity in tax evasion and money laundering.

“In connection with repeated violations of the previously chosen preventive measure, the investigator of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for Moscow requests the court to select a preventive measure for Elena Blinovskaya in the form of detention,” a message reads on the department’s telegram channel.

In early July, Moscow’s Presnensky Court imposed provisional measures on 50 Blinovskaya bank accounts and collectible gold coins. About 100 million rubles and 21 real estate assets were also seized.

UPDATE 2:55 PM: Elena Blinovskaya was taken to the Zamoskvoretsky court in Moscow to consider the criminal complaint of the Investigative Committee. It also became known that the Zamoskvoretsky court received materials as part of another criminal case against the blogger.

In the spring of 2023, a tax evasion case was opened against blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek). But already in December the case for payment of the debt to the Federal Tax Service was closed.

UPDATE 17:05: The court transferred Elena Blinovskaya from house arrest to a pre-trial detention center.
