KYEC specializes in testing semiconductors to be manufactured in Taiwan; Google buys equipment from this company to research and test its chips. In cooperation with TSMC, Google will start production completely independent of Samsung: Until recently, “Google” chips based on Samsung’s Exynos were produced.
It is known that Google will start testing its own Tensor chips in mid-2025. Insiders say the Tensor G5 “Laguna” will likely be the first chip Google will produce without Samsung components. The chip will be produced using 3 nm process technology.
