Musk himself is known for living in a Tesla production office and sleeping under a desk for three years, and he called the process “production hell” while capacity was being increased during the development of the Model 3.
“We really need engineers to live in real time. This isn’t some off-the-shelf, “it just works” thing. This will be a complex production process. In practice, we will even sleep. Not practically, we will sleep,” Musk said in a meeting with investors.
