Deliveries are supposed to begin in 2029, but were previously planned for 2028, according to Pratt & Whitney Vice President Jennifer Latka. The power plant is being developed as part of the Engine Core Upgrade (ECU) programme, for which the state budget has not yet been approved. The design of the F135 family engines is planned to be completed in 2025.
The first tests are planned for 2026, and the engine will be tested on the aircraft in 2029, when the start of deliveries has been postponed. If the manufacturer and customer are satisfied with the result, the company will begin mass deliveries.
