Meta* CEO Mark Zuckerberg tested Apple’s Vision Pro helmet and shared his opinion on social media. He compared Apple’s headset to the Meta*Quest 3 virtual reality system and criticized the competing product.

Mark Zuckerberg compared Quest 3 with Apple Vision Pro and listed around 10 disadvantages of the latter

Meta*’s CEO said in a three-and-a-half-minute video that the Quest 3 is better for “the vast majority of things people use mixed reality for.”

He noted the following advantages over the Apple helmet:

  • Meta* Quest 3 is seven times cheaper than the Vision Pro ($499 vs. $3,499);
  • The headset offers high-quality delivery on large screens “like the Vision Pro”;
  • Quest 3 is more comfortable: it weighs 120 grams less;
  • There are no cables to prevent users from moving;
  • The field of view is wider, the screen is brighter;
  • Vision Pro has motion blur. Mission 3, according to Zuckerberg, is sharper;
  • There are precision controllers, the Quest 3’s hand tracking is more precise;
  • Quest’s library of immersive content goes deeper;
  • With Quest you can watch YouTube or play Xbox.

Zuckerberg also noted that he was surprised by the compromises Apple had to make to provide a higher resolution display than the Quest 3 offers, “sacrificing comfort, ergonomics and more.”

He expressed hope that Meta* devices will eventually “win.”

Meta* Quest 3 was released in October. The headphones have two 2K LCD panels compared to the 4K microLED displays on the Apple Vision Pro. The device weighs 515g, received Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2, 8GB of RAM, and Touch Plus drivers.

The person in charge of Meta* already criticized the Apple helmet after its presentation in June 2023. Now he tested it and shared his opinion with subscribers.
