And most interestingly, this jet probably contains many of the chemical components necessary for life to emerge. Details of the explosion were presented at a conference at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore on May 17.

The scientists noted that Enceladus’ water vapor cloud is extremely large, surpassing previous observations. The researchers plan to submit a full-fledged scientific paper on this amazing discovery.

By the way, the detection of water emissions on Saturn’s moon was made in 2005, when the NASA spacecraft detected ice particles ejected from cracks in its surface.

No kidding – powerful emissions are even forming one of Saturn’s rings.

The analysis showed that the jets contained methane, carbon dioxide and ammonia – organic molecules that were the chemical building blocks for the development of life. Perhaps some of these gases were produced by life itself, releasing methane from the depths of Enceladus, the researchers say in a publication in The Planetary Science Journal.
