WhatsApp is testing a feature that prevents people from taking screenshots of your profile photo. The new feature has been released in the Beta version of the messaging app and can now be tried by testers.

Similar to single view photos and videos, WhatsApp will prevent others from taking screenshots of your profile photo. When trying to take a screenshot, the user is warned that he or she cannot complete the action due to “app restrictions.”

Blocking is an important contribution to privacy, mainly to prevent profiles from being copied or fake information created within the messenger. It also strengthens the platform’s permission policies.

For now, the new feature is only available to WhatsApp Beta testers and there are no predictions for an exact launch. But since the function is already being tested, it is likely that it will not take long to be released.

However, this is not the only new feature prepared in WhatsApp Beta. The new look of Statuses, which was recently published on the platform, has been seen and an assistant with artificial intelligence has been added to help support the application.
