The updated BioActive sensor improves health outcomes through three key enhancements: improved photodiode performance, additional LED colors, and optimized component layout.
Samsung has made room for more LEDs by doubling the efficiency of each photodiode and reducing the number of photodiodes from eight to four. The sensor now includes blue, yellow, violet and ultraviolet LEDs, as well as an increased number of green, red and infrared LEDs. The enhancement will provide more accurate health data by improving the accuracy of indicators such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels and stress levels. Heart rate measurement is now 30% more accurate, especially during intense workouts.
Various LED colors and updated photodiodes also offer new opportunities for preventive health. The sensor will be equipped with an index of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), a biomarker of metabolic health and biological aging.
