Apple Vice President of Audio Gary Gaves will retire soon. He is replaced by “higher deputy” Ruchir Dawe.
Apple’s acoustics group employs about 300 people. They developed audio technologies for AirPods, HomePod and other devices of the company. The development team created spatial audio as well as a 3D audio feature that was built into AirPods, Vision Pro and other devices.
AirPods designer Tan Tan oversaw the acoustics team led by John Ternus. However, Tan began preparing to leave Apple in December. Since then, the team has reported to Matt Costello, who oversees HomePod and Beats.
