The incredible amount we spend on subscriptions each year

67% of users still think they can’t afford all the subscriptions they want!

Subscriptions have become a non-negotiable expense

Accessing the content we like whenever we want is not free. In fact, for many users, subscriptions have become an important part of their budget. At least in the United States, Some people spend around $1,000 a year on streaming subscriptionsAccording to a report from ZDNet.

Although the increase in subscriptions to streaming services in recent months has been as high as 40% in some cases, most users prefer to stay with more than one option. And contrary to expectations, thanks to these increases and the launch of advertised basic plans, many people chose to upgrade to the most expensive tiers.

Spending on streaming platforms in the US is close to $1,000

The report found The average American subscriber pays $924 per year for subscriptions; That’s $77 a month. Additionally, of the 5,000 subscribers surveyed, 25% pay $100 per month and 5% pay $200 per month.

Another survey conducted and published by Bango confirmed how much people pay for subscriptions and how much users are willing to pay for other benefits such as removal of ads. 57% of subscribers canceled their subscription due to recent price increases, while 36% upgraded their subscription after the ad-supported version was introduced and 67% of users still think they can’t afford all the subscriptions they want.

Netflix backed a strategy that also benefits similar apps

Another factor that triggered the increase in subscriptions was Netflix’s initiative to terminate shared accounts, which was later imitated by other services. Since the beginning of this attack, which started last year, 35% of subscribers now pay for a service they previously accessed for free.

Three-quarters of subscribers have at least one subscription they would never cancel or pause. Since this point is clear, Managing options has become an important point for users.

According to the report 73% of survey respondents want a single content hub for subscriptions and 69% want the ability to pay for multiple subscriptions with a single invoice.

Although the report focuses on people in the United States, this is a phenomenon that extends to other markets as well. I often look at my options to reduce my spending on these services and end up opting for Netflix and Amazon. What are yours?
