Mercedes-Benz has ousted Tesla from first place in the ranking of the most valuable car brands. This happened mainly due to the fact that Tesla dropped in price, by 12% during the year. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz increased its price by only 1%.
Mercedes-Benz topped the ranking of the most expensive car brands in the world. The list was prepared by the consulting firm Brand Finance.
The price of the Tesla brand fell 12% in the last year, to $58.3 billion, and analysts linked the drop in its valuation to the scandals surrounding Elon Musk, which negatively affected the brand’s reputation.
Mercedes-Benz was valued at $59.4 billion, just 1% higher than the previous rating.
Among the three most valuable car brands is Toyota with a valuation of $52.7 billion, fourth and fifth place are occupied by Porsche and BMW with $43.1 billion and $41 billion respectively.
