Life expectancy (LE) in Russia at the end of 2023 was 73.46 years. Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko spoke about this during his speech at the Russia exhibition.

Life expectancy in Russia has reached an all-time high

As Interfax reports, this figure is the all-time high for life expectancy in the country. According to Rosstat, life expectancy in 2022 was 72.76 years.

In September 2023, the minister stated that in three regions of the Russian Federation life expectancy exceeded 78 years: Ingushetia, Dagestan and Moscow.

Murashko’s presentation also highlighted that infant mortality in the Russian Federation is at the lowest level in the country’s history: 0.42%. In 2019, the figure was 0.49%.

According to statistics from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the countries with the highest life expectancy in 2022 were Switzerland and Japan: 81.6 and 81.5 years, respectively. According to the department’s data, life expectancy of 73.46 years can be compared with the indicators of the United States and Poland – 73.5 years.
