“The news about the production of Mozhaisk Confectionery House today shocked many of our customers and employees. We understand that those frameworks that are distributed over the network are completely unacceptable for the production of products. Now supplier deliveries are blocked, all products have been removed from shelves and are not available for online orders,” Vkusville representatives wrote.

The Moscow Region Prosecutor’s Office began an inspection of the company on October 30 “in connection with a publication published on the Internet about a serious violation of sanitary standards.” The agency received information that production products were stored on the floor with damaged packaging, equipment and work surfaces were dirty, and containers with fruit fillings were open. Based on the inspection results, if there are reasons, the prosecution will take response measures.

Vkusville stated that since 2023, 17 laboratory tests of MKD products have been carried out, which have not revealed any deviations from the standard in terms of safety indicators. Additionally, in August (year not specified), the supplier underwent a scheduled audit; “There were no doubts about the sanitary state of production,” added the retailer’s press service.

They clarified that they are waiting for the results of the inspection, but if the information about sanitary violations is confirmed, then MKD and other legal entities that may be associated with it “will be forever blocked from cooperation.”

MKD products were also sold at Perekrestok. Representatives of this retail chain told RIA Novosti that the retailer had suspended sales of potato pie until all circumstances and the results of the internal investigation were clarified.

  • At the end of October, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the activities of the Sokol confectionery factory in the Moscow region, which produced Classic and Giselle marshmallows with maltitol syrup (used as a sugar substitute). The regulator made the decision after the Mash Telegram channel wrote about the mass poisoning of customers of Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Vkusville with these marshmallows.
  • During an inspection of the company, Rospotrebnadzor identified “numerous violations of sanitary rules and regulations, including poor maintenance of production facilities, technological equipment, and violation of storage conditions.”
  • Vkusville later claimed that the information about mass poisonings was not true, since maltitol syrup was allowed by law and the marshmallows passed all routine laboratory tests. Despite this, the retail chain promised to send new marshmallow samples for unscheduled research.
  • X5 Group informed RBC that it had withdrawn marshmallows with maltitol from sale in Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and in the Vprok.ru online hypermarket, but emphasized that it had not recorded any customer complaints about this product.
