Microsoft has officially added SSE4.2, a set of instructions published 16 years ago, to its list of requirements.

What does it mean? If your processor does not support SSE4.2, Windows 11 24H2 will not install. Sad but logical: new functions require more modern “brains”.

Should we panic? Not exactly. First, most computers manufactured after 2008 should have SSE4.2. Secondly, you will still be able to use Windows 11 22H2 even if your computer does not meet the requirements.

But there is a caveat: Microsoft will gradually stop supporting older versions of Windows 11. This means that over time your computer will become more vulnerable to viruses and other threats.

Also note that this is just one of the new features in Windows 11 24H2. We will let you know about the other features of the update as soon as they become available.
