Europe should evaluate whether Meta’s operating principles comply with applicable privacy and security laws in the European Union (EU).
The EC requests Meta to expedite the provision of information to the requests, the first of which was sent to the company in December 2023. The information relates to elections, terrorism and the protection of minors. The company has until March 15 to provide this information, and new data about Meta’s paid program to opt out of ad-targeted tracking must be provided by March 22.
Failure to comply with these requirements will result in large fines and other costs.
