The St. Petersburg department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service imposed a fine on Megafon for sending advertising without the consent of the subscriber. The operator will have to pay a fine of 500 thousand rubles for sending advertising content to a local nursery.

The FAS regional department received a complaint from a subscriber of the company about spam messages from Megafon without his consent. A message on the service’s Telegram channel notes that the user even wrote a refusal to receive the mailing list, but the messages continued to arrive.

Therefore, the advertising was considered inappropriate and the company was found guilty of a crime provided for in part 1 of article 14.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Megafon received the maximum possible fine under this article – 500 thousand rubles.

Previously, at the end of February, the FAS opened a case against Sberbank for a possible violation of the law on advertising.
