The Bank of Russia intends to introduce the requirement for large merchants to accept payments through the Fastest Payment System and in digital rubles. Interfax writes about this based on a source.

The requirement will apply to sellers, including aggregators of information about goods and services, whose revenue per calendar year exceeds 30 million rubles. The rule on the use of the SBP may come into force on October 1, 2024, for digital rubles – from October 1, 2026.

The number of commercial and service companies accepting payments through SBP increased to 1.5 million in 2023. In the total number of payment transactions, the share of SBP more than doubled and reached 27%.
