TikTok’s Creator Program will finally exit Beta and get a new name: Creator Rewards Program. The platform’s new monetization project was announced at the “For Creators: Future Formats Summit” event held in Los Angeles, USA last Wednesday (6).

Introduced in February 2023, the Creator Program was a monetization model that paid creators only for longer, higher-quality videos. The project first reached the United States but reached the Brazilian public in September.

To participate, the creator had to meet certain criteria, including: Being over 18 years old, having more than 10 thousand followers and having at least 100 thousand views in the last 30 days.

New program, same offer

The new Creator Rewards Program will follow the same proposal and benefit those who produce high-quality original videos longer than one minute in length.

The award criteria will consider four areas: originality, video length, relevance in searches, and audience engagement. However, it is not clear how to evaluate these issues.

TikTok hopes to improve compensation for platform users in its Creator Rewards Program; This is a constant complaint from the community about the old project. Since the Creative Program launched, earnings from videos have increased by 250% in the six months.

TikTok with YouTube appearance

With its Creator Rewards Program, TikTok will continue to incentivize the creation of longer videos that take the platform away from its original offering. ByteDance’s social network is slowly approaching what YouTube offers.

In January of this year, the company also began encouraging the creation of long, horizontal videos that are a trademark of YouTube. But the campaign only promised an increase in content reach.
