Chamber approves PL increasing penalties for crimes committed using artificial intelligence against women

Last Tuesday (5), the House of Representatives approved a bill (PL). Sentencing increases for crimes against women involving the use of devices artificial intelligence (AI) to create fake photos, audio and videos. The proposal goes to the Senate for analysis.

Currently, the penalty for the crime of psychological violence against women ranges from six months to two years’ imprisonment and a fine. According to the author of the project, the aim is to increase the protection of girls and women exposed to attacks with new technological resources. He emphasizes that creating deepfakes essentially involves: sexual video generation.
