Scientists believe that artificial intelligence to be used in scientific developments should not be completely closed, so that every scientist can renew the scientific basis by taking part in research and experiments. But this area also requires serious control.
According to them, “scientific” AI should not harm humans, so these technologies cannot be used to create biological weapons. The agreement signed by scientists includes the development of restrictive safety measures that will prevent the intentional or accidental use of equipment for synthetic DNA production for “other purposes”.
“As scientists participating in this study, we believe that the benefits of existing AI technologies for protein design far outweigh their potential harms, and we want to ensure that our research will benefit everyone in the future,” the agreement states.
