Imagine that for your birthday you want to give a very special gift: the very Marilyn Monroe whisper “Happy Birthday” in your ear and treat you like the president. Well, it’s very close to becoming a reality as Soul Machines is reviving the title character from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
The company, which specializes in so-called artificial intelligence-based biological digital personas, unveiled the Marilyn bot at SXSW on Friday in partnership with Authentic Brands Group.
ABG owns the rights to images of Monroe and many other celebrities, both dead and living, including Elvis Presley and Shaq. Built on GPT 3.5, Digital Marilyn is “hyper-realistic” and capable of responding with “subtle emotions and expressions,” Soul Machines said in a press release. You can carry on a conversation for about 20 minutes.
“Digital Marilyn is not just an impressive imitation, she is an autonomous digital personality capable of engaging in natural, dynamic conversations that feel authentic and responsive,” Soul Machines wrote on their blog. “It’s as if the spark of Marilyn herself has carried over into the age of artificial intelligence, offering a unique and deeply personal connection to both dedicated fans and curious newcomers.”
According to the company, these AI models “interact with their fans one-on-one, without restrictions” and “provide connectivity 24/7.”
