TikTok is gearing up to challenge Instagram with TikTok photos

Next from TIK Tak I would be your own Instagram clone, which will be released very soon. Reportedly TheSPAndroidpopular video platform is working on Tik Tok Photosa new application that, as the name suggests, will be dedicated solely to publishing photos.

Clues to the existence of TikTok Photos were found when analyzing the code of the most recent TikTok APK for Android. Several links appeared there to obtain and use the application in question. For example: “Share this post in TikTok photos” or “Reach those who also like posts with photos” and others.

This change in TikTok’s strategy has already caused quite a stir as it could mean… For the first time in a long time, Instagram has a serious competitor that could create problems for it.. After all, ByteDance’s platform has deep roots among youth and teens, and its expansion beyond video could be significant.

It’s true that today TikTok already allows you to share photos on its main app. Any user can select several images and publish them in a kind of carousel. In fact, the app offers a “photo mode” that allows you to manually navigate between photos, and a “video mode” that automatically plays them as if it were a clip.

With TikTok Photos, the platform could transfer this experience into a separate application provide more options than currently exist. Moreover, the reality is that TikTok is still used primarily for short videos, which are the most popular.

TikTok Photos will become the “Instagram of Tiktok”

Another interesting find TheSPAndroid is that TikTok Photos will allow users sync photos you’ve previously shared in the main app. So, at least, it follows from the link found in the video platform code. This also shows that the launch of the new app will be very, very close.

“Sync your posts with TikTok photos. […] “When the button is turned on, we’ll sync your public photos to the new app regardless of whether you close the pop-up window or not,” the notice reads.

It is unclear whether the ability to post images in the main TikTok app will be removed once TikTok photos become available. We will have to wait for official news to know how the platform will work.

As we said earlier, TikTok launching its own Instagram clone would be quite an interesting change of strategy. The Meta platform and YouTube have shamelessly copied some of the most important features of the ByteDance social network. This was especially reflected in the reels and shorts.
