RevenueCat, which develops tools for managing subscriptions in applications, provided a report on the state of the industry.
According to her data, only 17.2% of apps spend $1,000 a month on their developers. 59% of them are a result of $2500 per month, of which 60% are $5000. Of the technology apps that consume $5,000 per month, only 3.5 can reach $10,000 in revenue—that’s what it takes for an independent developer to devote himself full-time to app development.
Fitness and health apps are being launched the most. The least expensive apps to carry are travel and productivity apps, with even the top 5% of apps in this category earning less than $1,000 after a year in the App Store.
RevenueCat’s analysis used data from 29,000 apps and 18,000 developers, who in the study have 290 million subscribers and $6.7 billion.
