Yandex Taxi will adjust the car distribution principles based on orders. The service has introduced a points system for passengers; The accumulation of points depends on the number of canceled trips, the company’s press service reported.

As explained in the service, the new approach is designed to encourage customers to unnecessarily cancel orders less frequently, which will help curb the rising cost of the service.
The price of a trip depends on the balance between supply and demand, the company said. When the driver accepts this or that order, other orders are not available to him.
“Therefore, when people cancel a trip to immediately book another one, or order several cars at the same time, other passengers are forced to wait longer for a taxi or order it at a higher price,” Yandex Taxi explained.
Now taxi drivers will first receive requests from users with a minimum number of refusals. The new algorithm works according to the ratio of cancellations and completed trips. Therefore, customers who cancel orders frequently will wait longer for the car.
The service clarified that the algorithm will not take into account forced cancellations when the driver drove too long or sat still. Gradually, the new functionality will be available to all users of the Yandex Go application.
Previously, Yandex Taxi decided to reduce the commission to drivers during peak demand periods. Therefore, the company encourages drivers to work in shifts during bad weather or traffic jams.
