Low legislators passed the world’s first laws that regulate the work of artificial intelligence.
According to it, protective rules prohibit uses of AI, introduce new transparency rules and require risk for high-risk AI systems. The new legislation applies to artificial intelligence products on the EU market, regardless of where they were created. In case of violations, a system of fines is introduced in the amount of up to 7% of the income of the Spanish company.
Among the restrictions:
• Ban the use of certain AIs that can recognize emotions in school and at work.
• AI regulation based on a biometric identification system
• all deepfakes must be labeled
The law is expected to come into force in May 2025 once all aspects are approved. Its implementation will also begin in 2025 and will be rolled out over several years. [WSJ]
