The X5 retail group, which brings together Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik, has opened a testing ground for warehouse robots at its Podolsk distribution center. The company’s press service published a message about this.
The center tests AMR and FMR: autonomous mobile robots and forklifts. They move around the warehouse independently and can perform work without human intervention.
These robots will help the company solve key business processes, the press service of the X5 Group reported.
“The introduction of robotic solutions will allow in the future to optimize on average up to 20% of the personnel in each distribution center,” the company noted.
According to the company’s plan, in September-October 2024 the chain’s stores will begin to implement robotic solutions to automate warehouse processes.
