Despite a huge number of nominations (32 in total!), Netflix only managed to get one statuette and Apple was left empty-handed.

Netflix’s only win was Wes Anderson’s short film The Marvelous Story of Henry Sugar. By the way, this is the director’s first Oscar for himself.

High hopes were placed on Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, but the film went without awards. And Martin Scorsese’s big-budget Western Killers of the Flower Moon, on which Apple spent a lot of money, got nothing.

It seems the Oscars are stubbornly refusing to acknowledge streaming platforms. Despite some success, the best picture award has yet to make its way to Netflix or Apple headquarters.

But broadcasters spend millions on star actors and famous directors to win over academics. Will these investments be beneficial? Time will show us.
