The number of bankruptcies of individuals in Russia at the end of 2023 amounted to 350.8 thousand, 20.7% more than in 2022, said Viacheslav Kosakov, managing partner of Novator Legal Group.
As a result of the examination of about 68% of court cases declaring people bankrupt, creditors do not receive anything, since citizens who declare bankruptcy have few assets, the expert noted. On average, an individual’s bankruptcy takes 1 year and 3 months.
Large debts of individuals are collected in the context of bankruptcy of legal entities. At the end of 2023, more than 5,000 applications were submitted to hold beneficiaries or administrators liable in the amount of 406.3 billion rubles, Kosakov highlighted.
