This Friday, March 15, disruptions were recorded McDonald’s around the world, causing some restaurants to close for several hours.
The situation prompted customer complaints on social media. The fast food chain called it a “technology glitch” that is being fixed.
Chicago-based McDonald’s Corp. said the problems were not related to a cyber attack, without specifying what caused them.
“We are aware of the technology disruption that has impacted our restaurants; “The issue is now being resolved,” the burger giant said in a statement. “We thank customers for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
McDonald’s Japan posted on In Hong Kong, the chain said on Facebook that due to a “computer system failure” it was unable to order online or through self-service kiosks.
A Bangkok restaurant worker said the system was down for about an hour, making it impossible to accept online or credit card payments but allowing him to continue accepting cash for orders.
Media reported that customers from Australia to the UK were complaining about problems with orders.

Patrick Hjelte, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in central Sweden, near the border with Norway, told local newspaper Nya Wermlands Tidning: “All McDonald’s restaurants are connected to the global network, that’s all. “We are currently restarting all systems and hope to return to normal operations soon.”
