In an interview with TASS, the head of the Ministry of Transport stressed that, despite the sanctions, Russian civil air transport is growing, albeit small.
“We see an increase in air mobility. By the end of this year, we will surpass the 110 million passenger mark. This is a small increase: between 2% and 2.5%,” Starovoit said.
The minister added that Russia ensures that the airworthiness of the aircraft is maintained in accordance with international requirements and promptly replaces aircraft components and assemblies.
Currently, 18 Russian airlines, as well as foreign companies, operate flights from Russia to 38 countries.
Last week, Aeroflot became the first Russian company to start flying under the wet lease program. Under the terms of the agreement, iFly transferred three aircraft with flight and cabin crew to Aeroflot for use.
