The state corporation began refunding depositors of Qiwi Bank, which lost its license, on February 29. To date, 6.9 thousand legal entities and individuals have received funds.

The refund is made by Uralbib Bank, which acts on behalf of the corporation.

  • On February 21, the Central Bank revoked Qiwi Bank’s license; a month earlier, Qiwi closed a deal to sell Russian assets for 24 billion rubles to Hong Kong company Fusion Factor Fintech Limited.
  • At the end of February, ABC reported that it had identified about 9.3 million wallets in Qiwi Bank with a total amount of funds of 4.4 billion rubles.
  • On March 5, Qiwi Bank filed a lawsuit against Qiwi JSC and Hong Kong company Fusion Factor Fintech Limited and Qiwi plc. The organization wants to challenge the contract for the sale and purchase of shares of JSC Qiwi and invalidate the contract of pledge and encumbrance of said shares.

Earlier this week it emerged that Qiwi shareholders did not approve the share buyback during an extraordinary meeting. The company wanted to buy class B common shares, including ADSs, of the Nasdaq and the Moscow Stock Exchange.
