Owners of Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards (54 and 19 models, respectively) can gain access to the coveted 256 GB simply by updating the BIOS. However, AMD AM5 motherboard owners are even luckier; 256 GB DDR5 support already comes “hard-wired” from the factory.

It is worth noting that an update with support for 256 GB RAM has been available for many Intel motherboards since February. Presumably, Asus was waiting for this feature to be available on all planned models before making an official announcement.

Currently, 256 GB RAM can only be installed using four 64 GB modules. It is expected that 128 GB modules will be released in the future, which will be more preferred for memory overclocking.
