I watched the new cartoon “Kung Fu Panda 4” in the cinema. A very controversial movie, but children appreciate it

The premiere of the cartoon “Kung Fu Panda 4” took place in Russian box office.

A sequel that no one really expected, but happened anyway. The last major part was released in 2016, but there were many spin-offs, including an animated series. They did not influence the story and worked on the glory of the original cartoons.

Oddly enough, Dreamworks was one of the outside studios that knew when to stop. But in the case of Panda, something went wrong.

We have already watched the new product and will hasten to share our impressions. Unfortunately, not very satisfactory.

A cartoon that shouldn’t have existed

What is the cartoon about?: According to the consequences, I had to take the position of Dragon Warrior in order to become the spiritual mentor of the Valley of Peace. His successor is the cunning fox Zhen, a criminal living in a big city. Clumsy Will try to establish relations with Zhen and teach her everything he knows – at the same time, along with these heroes, they will support a new enemy.

In the new film “Dragon Warrior”, the leader has become a dangerous enemy – an evil sorceress named Chameleon. She can transform into a Creature of any size, adopt other people’s abilities and kung fu styles.

No one was expecting a new service. Poe’s story ended a long time ago, and everyone was more or less satisfied with it. And what a shock it was to watch when the fourth part of the franchise was announced quite suddenly. Nobody asked for it, but the authors decided to continue the plot the same way.

So what did we get? Another part that doesn’t try to offer viewers something new. Perhaps, except for the new main character, on whom, presumably, the franchise will continue to be built. Otherwise, we have seen all this in past countries.

The main arch will be painful friend to those who have followed the male Dragon Warrior before. It even has a similar structure: new villains, a search for solutions, victory and a happy ending. In parallel, we promote wisdom, self-knowledge and development. In general, this is the central idea of ​​the whole picture, as before.

There was also some humor of varying degrees of lousiness. Through it, the audience is trying to show how Poe has changed and what consequences this entailed. The hero has really grown above himself, he even often (suddenly for himself) includes assorted wisdom, the demon constantly striving for his own transformation. And many jokes here are based on making fun of the altered image. Yes, there are plenty of other topics too. But the attention to humor will appeal to children, but nothing more. An adult viewer will be bored for a good half of the running time, because he has already seen it about ten times.

Unlike previous parts, the pace of the story has changed greatly here. Every now and then we are thrown into many locations for almost 5 minutes. You literally you get lost in that.

The main villain also raises questions. Whereas before we were given some backstory to show these characters, here he was spending money out of thin air. It’s just that we have such an anti-hero, “hey.” Well, the constant clichés about seizing everything in the world have already become too hackneyed.

As a result, after watching it, you don’t understand why and for whom it was filmed? Well, except for money, of course. Children like this kind of movie, as was said in the hall, but older audiences will get bored within an hour and a half, especially from tons of endless action for an hour.

The budget of the fourth part turned out to be half as much as before – only $85 million. But even with this, you do not notice the difference with the picture of previous years. Everything visually looks great, just like before.

Many solutions are being used here for the first time. I really liked the combination of comic art, organically interspersed into the overall mix of styles.

There are an incredible amount of details, as before. The created world turned out bright and beautifulTai Lung’s appearance was presented in a stylish and modern manner.

The “chemistry” between the panda and the fox is done at a high quality level; their endless bickering is interesting to watch. And at such moments, humor can even shoot out. The only problem is that it’s interesting to look only at them, and their verbal skirmishes sound even more entertaining than the notorious action and endless connections.

It is Poe himself who is upsetting. If earlier he constantly grew above himself, now he decided to make a fool again, but with “high” liquids. He doesn’t want to leave his post, escape responsibility forever, and reaching the finals hardly changes him in any way. The Furious Five’s almost complete absence from the screen only makes it even more depressing.

The end result was a passable movie, but not trash.

“Kung Fu Panda 4” is an endless action game, seasoned with too much childish humor and childish philosophy. Everything would be fine, but the plot turns out to be so clumsy that it only causes a yawn.

Yes, children will definitely appreciate this movie. It’s far from the best in the franchise, but it’s not the worst either. If you want to go to the cinema, but you have already seen Onegin, dedicate this trip to your children and tell them about it. This is the best thing that is currently available at the box office (not counting Dune, of course).

And yes, Mikhail Galustyan does not voice Poe in this part. Just keep this in mind.
