Mass control software maker Qustodio has reported a rise in TikTok’s popularity among kids and teens.

The data was obtained on the basis of 400 thousand families registered on the basis of the service. As of June 2020, on average, people aged 4 to 18 spent 82 minutes per day on TikTok, compared to 75 minutes on YouTube.

And this figure has changed a lot a year later. By the end of 2021, kids and teens were watching 91 minutes a day on TikTok compared to 56 minutes a day spent on YouTube. Different operating systems and versions of services (web or application) are taken into account.

Time spent on YouTube and TikTok

The company also clearly showed the difference in views by country. For example, in the US, teens spent an average of 99 minutes a day on TikTok in 2021, compared to 61 minutes on YouTube. In the UK, TikTok usage is a whopping 102 minutes per day compared to 53 minutes on YouTube.

While YouTube offers longer viewing times and more in-depth viewing of videos, teens and kids tend to choose videos that don’t require a lot of time. [TechCrunch]
