But if a person regularly has to get up this early or is awake at these hours while working the night shift, he or she will know that the lowest point in his or her mood is 5 a.m.
The study used data collected from 2,602 medical interns over two years and obtained from Fitbit smart bands that tracked the subjects’ mood changes. Each smart device allowed the researchers to measure heart rate (HR), steps, sleep data, and daily mood indicators.
The team also evaluated the circadian cycle and wake time. Thanks to this, it was possible to synchronize mood peaks and time of day.
“We found that mood follows a rhythm linked to the body’s internal clock, and that the influence of the clock increases the longer a person remains awake.
