Researchers from Moscow State University, the Federal Research Center “Informatics and Control” of the Russian Academy of Sciences and RUDN University presented the results of their work on studying the migration of virtual machines to the cloud. The article, published in the journal Mathematics, provides an overview of virtual machine (VM) migration methods, migration selection strategies, and scheduling.

Cloud computing is becoming increasingly important in providing access to computing resources. Scientists have developed a model that uses queuing theory to better understand the handoff between servers. This takes into account random resource requirements and their varying durations.

The study includes analysis of migration types, resource allocation and redistribution strategies. A transition management model that contributes to the stability and efficiency of cloud services, which is important for the development of the digital economy, and can be applied to different scenarios in the cloud environment, is proposed.
