Black phosphorus has unique properties that make it potentially important in the development of compact, high-performance electronic devices. However, Semyon Khakhulin stated that new research and testing methods are needed for its industrial use.

Scientists from LETI have developed a method that makes it possible to test black phosphorus as a semiconductor, opening up new opportunities for creating advanced electronics. Using Fourier transform spectrometry, researchers measure a crystal’s infrared radiation and signal properties, allowing them to obtain the most accurate data on the crystal’s properties.

According to Khakhulin, the developed method will not only help work with black phosphorus, but will also allow the study of other promising semiconductor materials. This will be an important step in the development of compact and efficient electronics based on new physical principles.
