The Ministry of Digital Development is discussing the introduction of requirements for the use of cloud services for state companies. This is being discussed as part of the development of the national “Data Economy” project. Evgeniy Filatov from the Ministry of Digital Development explains that the use of cloud services should be part of companies’ IT infrastructure costs.
First of all, you need to define the concept of “cloud services” in the law and determine who is the owner of the information system when using them. For now, such questions remain open, because now the owner of the system is considered the owner of the equipment, and this does not correspond to reality when using cloud services. The initiative relates to government agencies’ desire to optimize their costs regarding IT infrastructure.
Experts believe that it is necessary to classify cloud services according to reliability and security criteria, warning about the security risks and effectiveness of such services. The Ministry of Digital Development also supports this idea and plans to work on the issue of classification in the future.
