The cost of air travel in economy class in Russia has increased sharply in the first two months of the year, RBC writes, citing data from Rosstat. In January, price growth amounted to almost 34% in annual terms, and in February – already 42%.

Last month, prices for flights within Russia in economy class increased to 7,244 rubles per thousand kilometers. ways. This is more expensive than in the high season (July) 2022, when the average price was 6,621 rubles per thousand kilometers.

At the same time, in February the monthly increase in flight prices amounted to 12.7%, the largest increase since 2008. Last year, the price increase in February compared to January was only 6.2%.

The Yandex Travel service confirmed the Rosstat data to the publication. The company said it had noticed a similar dynamic.

If we analyze the growth in prices year after year, in January round-trip flights became 32% more expensive. In February, a 42% price increase was recorded, up to 12.77 thousand rubles.

“At the same time, from February to January 2024, for both one-way flights and round-trip flights, we see an increase in cost of approximately 10%,” the service explained.

Which destinations have increased the most in price?

Of all Russian cities, prices for flights to Barnaul, Grozny, Blagoveshchensk, Murmansk and Ulan-Ude increased the most (88, 84, 77, 76 and 71%, respectively).

But in some directions a reduction in costs is also observed. For example, flights to Vladikavkaz fell by 22%, and ticket prices to Nizhny Novgorod, Vladivostok, Syktyvkar and Kemerovo remained almost unchanged.
