WhatsApp began releasing shortcuts to control video playback for everyone this Tuesday (26). The function, available for the first time in the Beta version of Messenger, allows you to fast-forward or rewind videos with two quick taps on the screen.

The news was announced in the app’s update notes on the App Store. The feature was listed among the new features of version 24.6.77 of WhatsApp for iOS, along with the new design for forwarded messages and the ability to quickly send messages in videos (a function that was included months ago but is now available with a new shortcut). ).

According to WABetaInfo, similar to shortcut player YouTube. When playing media sent or received in Messenger full screen, the user can fast forward (right side) or rewind (left side) 10 seconds by quickly double-tapping the sides of the screen.

This addition makes playback control more convenient and intuitive, freeing the user from using the progress bar to control the video. In this way, he can more easily advance irrelevant parts of the media.

Available on WhatsApp for iOS

The new feature is apparently exclusive to iOS users. There’s no mention of this feature in the latest Android update notes, so it’s possible that this feature isn’t available to the public yet.
