In previous scientific papers, experts wrote that perseverance (that is, perseverance in achieving a goal even in the face of failure) may be related to some cognitive functions. Nuria Aguerre of the University of Granada (Spain) discovered, together with her colleagues, whether this was really the case.
134 people participated in the study of Spanish scientists. They filled out special questionnaires and performed four experimental tasks on the computer.
After analyzing all the results, it turned out that people with high levels of perseverance do not always have high levels of cognitive ability development. At the same time, the study confirmed that persistence is associated with high levels of attentiveness and low levels of impulsivity. Overall, the most persistent subjects showed diverse patterns of cognitive ability.
