Motherbear was created by Jamilco in the fall of 2022 on the basis of the stores of the British children’s goods chain Mothercare, which was developed in Russia under a franchise by Monex Trading, a structure of the Kuwaiti Alshaya group. Jamilco bought this business after the brand announced that it would stop operating in the Russian market.

According to the results of 2022, the children’s goods market, according to AIDT, grew in monetary terms by 6.2%, up to 1,035 trillion rubles. Lime, Gloria Jeans and other actors will develop their production, but, according to experts, the market is not yet saturated.

Jamilco, which is currently selling the remains of Mothercare, is faced with the task of filling stores with assortment, and the multi-brand model in conditions of competition with the markets is not profitable, experts say.
