Romania will begin issuing Schengen visas from March 31, 2024. The application can be submitted at the consulates in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don. TASS was informed of this at the republic’s embassy in Moscow.

Visas obtained after March 31, 2024 will be able to enter the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Visas issued before March 31 can only be used by tourists during their entire validity to enter Romania and in accordance with the provisions of EU Decision No. 565/2014. For example, a foreigner who has a double or multiple entry visa issued by Romania before the end of March will be able to travel with a Romanian visa to Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus.
Starting April 1, 2024, Bulgaria will also start issuing Schengen visas. Applications are processed at the consular service of the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow and at the Consulate General in Saint Petersburg. The waiting time in line to present documents will be the same as in other Schengen countries.
One in twenty Aviasales users (5.5%) flew to Europe in 2022 and one in seven tried to obtain a Schengen visa. According to the travel service, visas were approved in 92.3% of cases, although the visa policies of European countries have undergone changes throughout the year.
