The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade intends to give domestic manufacturers an advantage over foreign suppliers. To this end, the department will prepare a draft law on the preferences of Russian manufacturers both offline and in the markets, said Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov.

“There is a bill presented by the body of deputies. And there is a bill that we will now present by the government. It will apply to both online and offline commerce. And it will be connected to a support mechanism that will ensure priority for Russian producers and national goods,” Evtukhov said, quoted by TASS.

According to the deputy director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the departure of foreign manufacturers from the Russian market gave local companies the opportunity to offer their products to Russians on equal competitive conditions.

Today, Evtukhov believes, developing young brands need additional support.

Previously, federal retailers called for reducing the threshold for duty-free import of goods purchased by individuals in foreign online stores to 200 euros. In 2022, due to large-scale sanctions, the threshold was increased five times, from 200 euros to 1,000 euros, to avoid shortages of essential products.
