The threshold for the value of duty-free packages has been reduced from €1,000 to €200. This will inevitably lead to higher prices for imported electronics and gadgets on the Russian market.
Industry participants predict a 15-20 percent price increase in parallel imported goods. First of all, iPhone smartphones, MacBook laptops, Apple AirPods headphones, as well as products from Samsung, Razer, Logitech and other brands that are not officially represented in the Russian Federation will be affected.
A significant increase in prices for goods in the middle price segment is expected: household appliances of LG, Bosch, Tefal and other foreign brands range from 20 to 100 thousand rubles.
At the same time, customs duties will have almost no effect on domestic electronics and gadgets from Chinese sellers.
It is worth noting that the decision to reduce the duty-free limit has not been finalized yet. Options are considered with a threshold of €500 or maintaining the level of €200 but reducing the tax from 15% to 5%.
But it is already clear that the upcoming changes will negatively affect the Russian electronics market and will significantly affect the purchasing power of the population in this segment.
