The United States has announced a review of restrictions on the supply of AI chips and equipment to China in order to curb the Chinese technology industry. The new rules will come into effect on April 4.

According to Reuters, the volume of changes in the document is 166 pages. In particular, it is clarified that restrictions on the supply of chips to China also apply to laptops containing these chips.
The US Commerce Department, which oversees export controls, intends to continue tightening restrictions on technology supplies to China as a deterrent measure.
In October 2022, the United States Department of Commerce introduced restrictions on the export of semiconductors and equipment for their production to China. In this way, US authorities hope to limit the Asian country’s access to key technologies in the field of microelectronics.
